Pictured from left to right: Clutch Pressure Plate, Clutch Disc, Flywheel belonging to a Volkswagen with VR-6 engine. This Clutch began to slip as the vehicle was driven on the highway during an extended trip. The Clutch got so hot that it melted the (plastic) Clutch Slave Cylinder and then proceeded to self-destruct until the vehicle would no longer move. The metal has gotten so hot that it has turned blue and the Clutch Disc completely lost it’s friction material (black stuff pictured just above the Clutch Disc.) After successful repairs the VR-6 is back cruising the highways.
