Two Sides to the Transfer Case Story…

Here’s the other side of the 2004 Toyota Tacoma Transfer Case. The reddish fluid below almost makes this look like a scene from an operating room -not far from the truth. The Transfer Case Assembly had to be removed from the Tacoma because of a problem with not shifting into and out of four-wheel-drive. The Transfer Case Actuator Assembly was found to be defective. Only way to replace the electric Actuator is to remove the Transfer Case, “split” the Case into 2 halves, swap out the the Actuators, re-assemble the 2 halves, and then install the Transfer Case back behind the Transmission….not a process for the faint hearted. :>)
